London - Take Two

all seasons in one day

I moved from Dorset to London three weeks ago, and immediately noticed a change in pace. It is true that London is busy and fast, but after living in slow mo for 8 weeks, I was glad of the pick-me-up. This is like a different world, and having been here 3 weeks now, I still feel like I'm experiencing a new country altogether. And along with the new experience, is stuff I don't like so much - commuting is top of the list, closely followed by the British media, commercialism of top tourist spots, the state of the River Thames. But mostly I really like it here. I expected grumpy Londoners but have been hard pressed to find any. Everyone I have met has been kind, curious and interested. I like the culture, the theatre, the arts scene, the East End, the charity shops, the accents, the comedy, BBC radio, Debenhams, Asda, the parks, mashed potato (this will come as a surprise to my parents), and even the weather. I was lucky to find work pretty quickly, and am working in Canary Wharf - a well developed area on the river full of high rises, parks and shopping malls. Perfect. Found a flat in the East End with a lovely english girl who likes a beer and a good chat. Also perfect. Life is looking good.
